Plastic Packaging and Climate Change: An Alarming and Dangerous Alliance
According to a recently released scientific study from Bangor University and the Zoological Society of London, there is a larger correlation between climate change and the world’s continued usage of man-made materials and overproduced plastic products than previously thought.
The report indicates that the ongoing manufacturing of non-recyclable, non-biodegradable plastics is only adding to the already out-of-control problem of deadly greenhouse gases. At this same time, the rising global temperatures are reaching alarming levels, contributing to the increase of devastating fires, floods, and earthquakes around the world. In addition to being deadly natural disasters, these dire events are also super-spreaders of plastic pollution and waste, with precious oceanic wildlife taking the brunt of both sides.
Scientists, environmentalists, and climatologists are hoping that by bringing attention to the undeniable ties between climate change and the construction of plastics, politicians in Washington, D.C. will start to shift their sights toward every aspect of global warming and not just focus on the emissions policies alone.
Here at Bamboo Grove, we are bamboo enthusiasts who are dedicated to providing eco-friendly solutions to some of the world’s largest climate change issues. By making even the smallest of swaps around our house, a bamboo toothbrush, for example, we can play our own very important role in the ongoing battle against global warming. A few of our favorite bamboo products include:
- Bedsheets, blinds, and entertainment centers
- Bicycles, instruments, and umbrellas
- Chopsticks, cutting boards, and clothing
- Fabrics, furniture, and paint brushes
- Tables, flooring, and wall coverings
Additionally, if you are interested in making sustainable and versatile bamboo substitutions for your current non-renewable plastic products, consider selecting a reusable bamboo coffee cup, cutlery, and school lunch boxes. Get rid of those single-use water bottles and instead invest in one that has been hand-crafted from biodegradable bamboo materials. If you’re a jet-setting frequent flyer, then perhaps you could buy a few bamboo toiletries for those long business trips across the country. Whichever way you choose to incorporate the benefits of bamboo into your everyday life, the most important thing is that you’re doing your part to combat climate change.
Few plants offer the strength and beauty that bamboo does. It is truly a plant of emmaculate design.
