Show Your Love and Support for World Bamboo Day

Admittedly, we’re a little late to the party in regards to the celebration of World Bamboo Day, which occurred last week on Friday, September 18^th, 2020. However, we’re coming together today to feature some of our favorite, eco-friendly ways to incorporate bamboo into our everyday lives and ultimately cut down on the carbon footprints that we’re leaving behind for our families and friends.

Originated by the World Bamboo Organization in Bangkok, Thailand in 2009, World Bamboo Day was created to bring worldwide awareness to the potential of bamboo and its incredibly positive impact on our global ecosystems. It also serves to bring much-needed attention to the massive amount of natural resources that are being depleted and destroyed around the world on a daily basis.

As the global climate change continues to worsen, people have found themselves paying more and more attention to the types of products they’re purchasing. Within the past ten to fifteen years, numerous retailers from mom-and-pop shops to big box stores, have started to incorporate a wider selection of environmentally-friendly options for their customers to choose from – including bamboo. By making the simple effort to swap out small household items such as kitchen utensils and bathroom toiletries like hair brushes for products made with bamboo, consumers are able make their eco-friendly mark on the environment without breaking the bank.

Additionally, bamboo has quickly made a name for itself in the architecture and interior design industry as one of the most unique and universal building materials on the market. Before bamboo, many decorators and architects found themselves at the mercy of having to work with synthetic materials, which doesn’t particularly leave the designer with many (if any) environmentally-responsible options. Now, based on the durability and reliability of bamboo, the “sky’s the limit” when it comes to crafting a new piece of furniture, wall décor, or even the construction of a bamboo back porch or relaxation area.

All in all, the increased popularity of bamboo has opened the rest of the world up to the benefits and importance of utilizing renewable resources such as bamboo, in our everyday lives. Our hope is that this trend will continue for many years to come and that everyone will join together to combat global warming, even if it is one toothbrush at a time.
